Sales Associate, Museum Shop 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Strong interpersonal, phone and cash register skills; process incoming admissions, tour, and retail calls and orders quickly and appropriately; strong ability to comprehend and follow directions; answer visitor inquiries and provide excellent service to all museum visitors; careful cash and transaction management; assist in daily maintenance of work environment, including stocking, organizing, inventorying, and other upkeep, to ensure an attractive and efficient appearance of workspace; ability to become skilled in suggestive selling, upselling, hand selling and knowledge of shop merchandise as well as the link of merchandising to our mission; ability to  become skilled in suggestive selling of museum memberships, program tickets, admissions, and memberships; promote repeat visitation. 

Required Hours:   Part-time, daytime, 20-25 hours a week. Regular weekend availability required, and evening event and holiday coverage when requested. Flexibility is a must.

Qualifications:  High school education is required and some college coursework or college degree is preferred; excellent cash handling skills and ability to use a desktop computer;  superior customer service, salesmanship, and initiative; ability to stand for 4 hours at a time, sit for 2 hours at a time, to lift items weighing up to 30 lbs, and available transportation to and from the workplace.

 

Operations Support Sales Associate, Museum Shop 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Strong interpersonal, phone and cash register skills; process incoming admissions, tour, and retail calls and orders quickly and appropriately; strong ability to comprehend and follow directions; answer visitor inquiries and provide excellent service to all museum visitors; careful cash and transaction management; assist in daily maintenance of work environment, including stocking, organizing, inventorying, and other upkeep, to ensure an attractive and efficient appearance of workspace; ability to become skilled in suggestive selling, upselling, hand selling and knowledge of shop merchandise as well as the link of merchandising to our mission; ability to  become skilled in suggestive selling of museum memberships, program tickets, admissions, and memberships; promote repeat visitation; ability to handle visitor and retail customer concerns with the goal of turning potentially negative visitor issues into positive ones, while working with management to obtain resources to achieve this goal; supervision of associates, coaching them to performance; fulfills regular operational tasks as outlined by management.

Qualifications: High school education is required and some college coursework or college degree is preferred; excellent cash handling skills and ability to use a desktop computer; has basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Word; has demonstrated outstanding customer service, leadership, salesmanship, and initiative; ability to stand for 4 hours at a time, sit for 2 hours at a time, to lift items weighing up to 30 lbs, and available transportation to and from the workplace.

Part-time Security Officer

The security officer conducts focused patrols by foot and/or vehicle to protect people, property, and information within the assigned area of responsibility.  The successful applicant will be able to work any eight hour shift – days, evenings or overnight, particularly on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  The applicant must pass a background check.  Experience is preferred.
